Is Oled-Tv the next big thing in the Flat-Tv market?

Organic Light-Emitting Diode. A next-generation display technology that consists of small dots of organic polymer that emit light when charged with electricity. OLED displays are thinner, lighter, brighter, cheaper to manufacture and consume less power than the current LCD displays.

So there are 3-4 main companys which want to roll out OLED-TV in the near future. Sony, Samsung-Sdi, Toshiba, and CMEL.

The first company which can offer a OLED-TV is Sony!
The Sony Xel-1 is the world first Organic Panel Television device.

Sony's XEL-1 OLED TV could be available in the US before 2008 depending on how well it fares in Japan, company electronics president Stan Glasgow has told journalists at a press gathering.

Samsung Electronics Digital Media President Park Jong-woo said that organic displays can be a breakthrough in its TV business, as the competition for creating bigger screens now does not carry much meaning to consumers.
At the FPD International Samsung shows some 14-inch OLED and a product roadmap.

Following small panels used in 2007, 3.5- to 7-inch panels including 4.1-inch panels will be applied to ultra mobile PCs, for example, in 2008. Then we will realize 14-, 15- and 21-inch panels in 2009 and large 40- to 42-inch full HD (high definition) OLED TVs in 2010."
